On behalf of Vancouver Island West School District 84, I wish to welcome you to our District! I hope you will enjoy your time here, and experience the many wonderful opportunities that our District has to offer, both inside and outside the classroom.
In our District, you will find many opportunities to become an integral member of the community. We value employees who enjoy a remote and rural lifestyle and who are dedicated to making a commitment to the students in our schools. Each community truly values those who are making a difference for their youth.
Our schools provide the support and learning opportunities that enable our students to have the skills and capacity to succeed as students and to pursue their career plans. Many of our classes are multi-graded and represent a diversity of student needs. The Board and the District make a priority of placing resources and services at the school level.
As a new employee to the District, your Supervisor will provide you with an orientation to your worksite and will be there to support and guide you as you become accustomed to your new job and location. Please feel comfortable to seek the help of your Supervisor and your colleagues at any time.
The staff members in the School Board Office are very helpful, and will point you in the right direction if you have any questions pertaining to your employment, housing, reimbursements, benefits, etc. Please feel free to call at any time between 8 am and 4 pm, Monday to Friday (250-283-2241). Please visit the District Administration section of this website for locals and e-mail addresses.
You will be provided with a SD84 e-mail address, and will also be required to complete three on-line courses prior to your employment – WHMIS 2015, Bullying and Harassment Awareness, and Orientation of New Staff. Information will be provided.
All the best!
